Chaucer Holdings PLC is a specialist insurance and reinsurance underwriting group listed on the London Stock Exchange. We have shareholders’ capital in excess of £150m. Chaucer Syndicates Limited, our wholly owned subsidiary, is the seventh largest managing agency at Lloyd’s with a total syndicate capacity under management of £734m for 2007. We provide the management skills, expertise and capital required to underwrite insurance business at Lloyd’s, the world’s leading insurance market. Our ExpertiseThe core of our business is Syndicate 1084 which has been created through the merger of our non marine, marine and motor businesses. Syndicate 1084 is organised as six divisions: Motor, Marine, Aviation, Property, Specialist Lines and Europe (Chaucer Underwriting A/S). We also manage and have a 50% underwriting interest in Nuclear Syndicate 1176 and provide managing agency services to third party insurance companies since 2000, managing Syndicate 1301 for Clal Insurance, ICM Syndicate 4242 for ICAT Holdings LLC, and Pembroke Syndicate 4000 for Quanta Capital Holdings Limited. SHL was subsequently renamed Stewart Syndicates Limited (SSL), part of the Stewart Group, and, in 1996, became Chaucer Syndicates Limited (CSL). For 2007, the underwriting capacity of Chaucer Syndicate 1084 increases to £485m and Nuclear Syndicate 1176 to £27.5m. The Group's underwriting interest in these syndicates is £462m. Chaucer provides underwriting capital for ICM Syndicate 4242 and Pembroke Syndicate 4000. The Group's underwriting interests total £481m for the 2007 year of account. CSL is the seventh largest managing agency group at Lloyd's for 2007 with a total syndicate capacity under management of £734m. |
