Garanti-Instituttet for Eksportkreditt (GIEK), the Norwegian Guarantee Institute for Export Credits (GIEK), is the central governmental agency responsible for furnishing guarantees and insurance of export credits. The guarantees may encompass a single transaction or a series of transactions, and cover both commercial and political risk. The agency's primary function is to promote exports of Norwegian goods and services, as well as Norwegian investment abroad. GIEK is also an important player on the Norwegian market for short-term customer credit insurance through the subsidiary GIEK Credit Insurance Ltd., primarily servicing exporters who are unable to secure satisfactory offers on the private market. GIEK’s guarantees are issued on behalf of the Norwegian government, and can be used as security vis-à-vis banks and other financial institutions to facilitate funding. Our ExpertiseGIEK’s investment guarantee scheme covers Norwegian investments abroad in the form of equity capital, borrowings, production equipment, or other deliveries in kind in connection with the establishment of a company, or participation in financial ventures outside Norway. This guarantee scheme is restricted to political risk. Our Services |
