MIGA, a member of the World Bank Group, provides political risk insurance for eligible foreign investment projects in developing countries. MIGA's operational strategy aims at helping to attract investors and private insurers into difficult operating environments. MIGA complements the activities of other investment insurers and works with partners through its coinsurance and reinsurance programs. Our Services
MIGA offers political risk insurance for projects in a broad range of sectors in 147 developing member countries, covering all regions of the world. MIGA insures against losses relating to currency transfer restrictions, expropriation, war and civil disturbance and breach of contract. MIGA covers only equity interests, loans related to an investment project (shareholder and non-shareholder loans), and certain types of transactions in which the investor’s remuneration depends on the revenues or production of the investment project. Investments must be new and of at least three years in duration. MIGA issues guarantees for periods of up to 15 years, and occasionally, 20 years.
